Reptanglian asks: "How did you come up with your DA name and icon?"
I thought my answer held a good deal of information that I would like you to know about who I am, so I am reposting it here.
So I used to be ~
jycius. That was the name of my character from a role-playing site I once lurked on. I was madly in love with the proprietor of said site, ~
Kitteh13. Well, as things happened, I got my nerve up to actually start a relationship with her, and it turned out that she loved me too. This was 4 years ago. Today we are ~
MostlyMatthew and ~
Linaeve. Why am I only mostly Matthew? There are two reasons.
Firstly, it is my company name, and the web site I am trying to get up will provide services both from myself, and from myself in collaboration with certain friends. So while it will be mostly run by me, other people will be involved.
The second reason will not be understood by anyone who has not been in love. Every day for the next year, year and a half, however long it takes me to be able to provide for a family and ask Lina to marry me, I will feel like I am not all here. Yes, I am mostly here, but I feel like I am missing my better half. The Matthew who I truly wish to be has a family of his own, and so I am only mostly there.
As for the thumbnail, it is my logo. It was chosen to be both memorable and meaningful. Simple, yet unique, it uses a ribbon-like shape rising from the bottom edge to turn the whole logo into the letter "M." This ribbon conjures images of bookmarks, awards, gift packaging, and other things of simple beauty. The grey and blue stripes in the background of the image are chosen for their strangely soothing quality and are selected using the eyedropper tool directly from a photograph of clouds and sky on a sunny day. The simplicity makes it memorable, the stripes make it recognizable, the colors make it calm, and the ribbon adds just a little something extra to make it special. This is what I aim to do with any work for my clients; to create a logo that not only looks stylish, but says something special about who they are as people.
